Job Description
Position is responsible for assisting the Coach in coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience required.
Must have current First Aid, CPR and specified safety training certification preferred.
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of criminal background check.
Duties and Responsibilities
Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to participate in the sport.
Develop team workouts, summer camps and practices
Attend Summer and Fall league programs for players practice and development.
Assess players skills and assign team positions.
Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
Scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
Scheduling transportation to and from games
Coach and instruct players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport.
Observe players, during competition and practice, to determine the need for individual or team improvement.
Determine game strategy based on the team’s capabilities.
Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior and provide proper supervision of athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
Monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; encourage student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
Work with athletic trainers to maintain the health and safety of players.
Communicate with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student.
Follow state, regional and Academy regulations governing the athletic program.
Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials and spectators.
Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news media, booster clubs, service clubs and other organizations.
Follow established procedures for the proper care, maintenance and requisitioning of equipment, supplies and uniforms.
Develop a policy for awards and submit a list of award winners at the end of the season.
Participate in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights and pep assemblies.
Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory and other related records.
Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Non-Critical Components
Other Duties:
Attend staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the School Principal and Athletics Director or other appropriate administrator.
Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
Responsible for punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
Terms of Employment
Salary: In accordance with MHPSA salary schedules
Type of Assignment: Full-time, Seasonal Exempt
