Coding Teacher

Job Description

The Coding Teacher, under the supervision of the Principal, shall be responsible for helping students to learn how to code. The coding teacher demonstrates knowledge and understanding of multiple programming languages and can help student troubleshoot their code. The coding teacher also teaches computer science concepts, such as algorithms and data structures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred.
  • Familiar with programming and high technology or has a strong interest to learn.
  • Background or experience in teaching and/or education
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teach technology and coding to students in grades 6-12.
  2. Facilitate hands-on experiments and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring.
  3. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media which guide the learning process toward student learning.
  4. Use technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  5. Work directly with colleagues in the development, implementation, and evaluation of technology initiatives and curriculum.
  6. Stay up to date on current technology and research trends.

Working Conditions

Maintain emotional control under stress. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing, and climbing. Move small stacks of textbooks, technology equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
