Middle School Boys Basketball Coach
Position Summary
The Middle School Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for teaching basketball fundamentals while developing
student-athletes academically, athletically, and socially in preparation for the Muskegon Heights varsity basketball program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct organized, energetic, and instructional practices.
• Teach basketball fundamentals, team concepts, offensive and defensive principles, and sportsmanship.
• Develop players using the Muskegon Heights basketball philosophy and program expectations.
• Work collaboratively with the varsity coaching staff to ensure program continuity.
• Encourage academic excellence, positive behavior, and accountability.
• Monitor student eligibility and communicate concerns to the Athletic Director.
• Maintain proper supervision of athletes before, during, and after practices, games, and team activities.
• Maintain equipment, uniforms, and practice materials.
• Communicate regularly with parents, athletes, administration, and the Athletic Director.
• Promote respect, discipline, teamwork, and pride in Muskegon Heights Academy.
Qualifications
• Previous basketball coaching or playing experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and youth player development.
• CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Completion of all required MHSAA and district coaching requirements.
• Successful completion of required background checks.
